Plastic molding is a process of manufacturing thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. The basic idea in plastic molding is inserting molten liquid plastic into a ready shaped mold. It involves placing the material through a hot barrel where it is melted down for mixing. After being melted and mixed, the material is sent into a mold where it is left to cool and solidify into the exact shape as the mold. Other materials, such as aluminum and steel, are generally modeled after the plastic molds as well. Plastic molding process is incredibly versatile and can provide a vast array of different molded parts and add a remarkable finish to the parts. Two of the basic requirements i.e sound chemical expertise and mechanical proficiency are highly required to be understood by the plastic mould suppliers.
The most important point is that, it offers a noticeable flexibility for both simple and highly complex designs. For example, it is highly applicable in so many car parts, containers, signs and other high volume items. The important plastic molding processes adopted by the manufacturers are like-
- Injection molding
- Blow molding
- Compression molding
- Film insert molding
- Gas assist molding
- Rotational molding
- Structural foam molding
- Thermoforming.
